    Olive grove visit + tasting

Visit our olive grove and taste the extra virgin olive oil Zlatna Šoltanka.

Spend an unforgettable morning or afternoon in our family olive grove on the island of Šolta. Learn about the tradition of olive cultivation, harvesting and processing, and taste different varieties of homemade extra virgin olive oil from Šolta. The experience lasts about 2 hours and includes a guided tour, oil tasting with bread and local cheeses.

    Tradition since 1900

The Vidan family olive grove, also known as OPG Damir Vidan, carries a fascinating story of four generations of olive growing on the island of Šolta. The first olives were planted by Damir's great-grandfather around 1900 for family use. About 25 years ago, his father Tonči planted around 200 young trees of the Levantinka (Šoltanka), Oblica, Leccino and other varieties alongside the existing century-old olives. Today the grove numbers around 250 trees, and the fifth generation – Damir's daughter Mia – has already planted her first olive tree and helps with the harvest every year. Every bottle is hand-picked and cold-pressed within 24 hours of harvest.

    Organic Production

Since we originally produced oil for family use, we never used harmful pesticides or fertilisers. In 2025 we officially received our organic (EKO) certificate, confirming our commitment to pure, natural production. The grove is a true paradise – alongside beautifully maintained olive and fig trees, visitors are greeted at the entrance by a lavender plantation lovingly tended by Damir's mother Lelja.

    The Šoltanka / Levantinka Variety

Šoltanka (Levantinka) is an indigenous Dalmatian olive variety known for its vigorous growth, abundant regular yield, and exceptional oil quality. Legend says a seafarer brought it to Šolta from the Levant in Greece, and islanders have perfected it over centuries. Our extra virgin olive oil is a medium-intensity monovarietal – perfect for bruschetta, salads, fish, soups, and even desserts like ice cream and chocolate. The oil carries a Protected Designation of Origin (HOP) and organic certification.
