An adventure for the bravest - descend underground into the dark military bunkers on the island of Šolta.
This is not a typical tourist excursion - this is an adventure for the bravest. You'll descend underground into dark tunnels and chambers that once served the Yugoslav People's Army. The bunkers on Šolta are part of an extensive network of underground military facilities built during the Cold War on the Dalmatian islands. Abandoned after the breakup of Yugoslavia, they are now overgrown with vegetation and shrouded in mystery. Our tour includes transport to the site (up to 30 minutes by car), approximately 1 hour of guided tunnel exploration, a 30-minute drive back, and a snack after the tour.

History of the bunkers on Šolta
During the Cold War, the Yugoslav People's Army (JNA) built a network of underground military facilities on the Dalmatian islands. Šolta, thanks to its strategic position near Split and the entrance to Kaštela Bay, was an ideal location for defensive installations. The tunnels served as weapons depots, command posts, and shelters for soldiers. They were carved deep into rock, with complex ventilation systems and multiple exits toward the sea.
After the breakup of Yugoslavia in 1991, the bunkers were abandoned. Nature slowly took over - vegetation overgrew the entrances, moisture attacked the concrete walls, and darkness replaced the former military life. Today, these tunnels are fascinating testimonies of a bygone era. In one of the tunnels, someone even created a mysterious gallery with portraits of famous 20th-century figures - an unusual blend of art and military heritage that makes this tour even more unforgettable.
